Honor of Kings Expands to India with Major Flow Update

Tencent has officially launched its popular multiplayer online battle arena game, Honor of Kings, in India, marking a significant expansion into one of the world's largest mobile gaming markets. This release follows the rollout of the game's new Flow Update, which brings a host of features including a new hero, gameplay tweaks, in-game events, and enhanced customization options.

New Hero and Gameplay Enhancements

Developed by Tencent through its subsidiary TiMi Studio Group, Honor of Kings has amassed a substantial player base globally. The India launch aims to attract new players while promising future updates with region-specific content. A key highlight is the introduction of a new hero inspired by Indian traditions, though details remain under wraps for now.

The Flow Update introduces Yango, a new hero available for purchase at 588 token vouchers or 13,888 star stones, with a discounted price of 294 token vouchers during the first week. Alongside Yango, several existing heroes have received adjustments:

  • Nezha now offers full-map vision and faster support capabilities.
  • Luara's first skill range matches basic attacks, and her ultimate deals increased damage.
  • Fatih has adjusted attack speed, with an ultimate that boosts attack power and enhanced basic attacks restoring health twice, plus smoother slash animations.

In-Game Events and Rewards

A limited-time event, Super Flow Day Perks, begins on March 14, offering in-game rewards such as tokens and items. Players can collect and redeem up to 5,000 limited-time tokens, with a guaranteed minimum of 888 tokens. From March 14 to 15, logging in grants 10 free draws in the Point Draw system and a new Flowborn outfit.

Additionally, 15 new skins are available for purchase using limited-time tokens starting March 11, with all heroes and skins accessible for trial periods. Other activities include a Yango skin sale, double partner event points, and a Ramadan-themed Spriteling available from March 11. A Ramadan Green Packet Shower event from March 20 to 22 allows players to receive up to 10,000 tokens.

New Companion and Customization Features

The update introduces the Super Flow Spriteling, a companion that adds new abilities with 60-second cooldowns:

  1. Runsie: Drink a shrink potion to knock back enemies, increase movement speed, and slightly reduce damage.
  2. Bigly: Drink an enlarged potion to boost maximum health but decrease movement speed.
  3. Coolio: Reduce skill cooldown times by one second, up to three times, while consuming some health.

Quality-of-life improvements include an updated progress page for the Play as You Download feature, reduced storage size through package optimization, and expanded tutorials for new players. Customization options now feature ten official lobby background music tracks, including esports and regional themes, plus additional settings for downloads and loading screens.

Community Engagement and Future Plans

Tencent has announced the Super Flow Brawl gameplay challenge, starting March 15, where players can submit ideas for hero skills. Ten selected concepts will go to a community vote, with the winning idea implemented in a future update. This initiative aims to foster engagement and tailor content to player preferences.

With this launch, Honor of Kings is poised to grow its community in India, leveraging the Flow Update to enhance gameplay and offer personalized experiences for mobile gamers nationwide.
