Capcom has released a demo version of Resident Evil Requiem across multiple gaming platforms, providing players with early access to a portion of the game's opening stages. The company announced that the demo is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Demo Launch Details
The launch coincides with the continued strong sales performance of Resident Evil Requiem, which has become the fastest-selling game in the history of the Resident Evil franchise since its release earlier this year. According to Capcom, the demo allows players to experience a section from the game's early stages. However, save data from the demo cannot be transferred to the full version of the game.
"The demo version allows you to play part of the game's early stages," the company stated. "Please note that save data from the demo version cannot be transferred to the full version of the game."
Sales Milestones
Resident Evil Requiem has been a major success for Capcom since its launch in February. The game reportedly sold 5 million copies in less than a week and later crossed 7 million sales within two months. Gaming industry observers noted that the previous fastest-selling title in the series was Resident Evil 4, which took more than a year to reach the same milestone.
Franchise Sales Comparison
Capcom's best-selling Resident Evil title remains the 2019 remake of Resident Evil 2, followed by Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village. The company recently celebrated the latest sales milestone with an event attended by Geoff Keighley, producer of The Game Awards.
This demo release is expected to further boost interest in the full game, which continues to attract both longtime fans and new players to the survival horror series.
