Samsung has forged a strategic alliance with Ampverse DMI to become the official title sponsor for the third season of the popular collegiate gaming competition, College Rivals. This partnership underscores the tech giant's deepening commitment to India's rapidly expanding esports ecosystem, particularly within educational institutions.
Galaxy S25 Ultra: The Official Gaming Device
The cornerstone of this collaboration is the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, which will be prominently featured in all on-ground gameplay and content integrations throughout the tournament. Samsung launched this flagship device earlier in the year, powered by the custom-built Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor.
According to Samsung, this customized chip delivers a significant performance leap: a 40% boost in NPU (Neural Processing Unit), 37% in CPU, and 30% in GPU compared to its predecessor. The phone is engineered for gamers, boasting advanced AI image processing with ProScaler11 and the mobile Digital Natural Image engine (mDNIe) for better display efficiency.
Building a Foundation for Future Esports Stars
Executives from all partnering companies highlighted the initiative's role in nurturing grassroots talent. Aditya Babbar, Vice President of MX Business at Samsung India, stated that Samsung has a history of creating powerful devices for demanding gameplay. He emphasized that the Galaxy S25 Ultra elevates this standard with its blazing-fast performance and a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x display with a 120Hz refresh rate, designed for an immersive, lag-free experience.
"We collaborated closely with Qualcomm engineers to customize the Snapdragon® 8 Elite chip for exceptional speed while preventing overheating during intense gaming sessions," Babbar added.
Charlie Baillie, Co-founder and CEO of Ampverse, noted that as competitive gaming becomes integral to youth culture in India, Samsung's technology sets a new benchmark. "By introducing student gamers to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, we are strengthening the talent pipeline, elevating grassroots competitiveness, and creating an aspirational platform for India’s next generation of esports athletes," he said.
A Unified Push for Campus Gaming
Shivashish Chatterjee, Co-founder of DMI Group, expressed excitement about extending their relationship with Samsung to the College Rivals platform. He reiterated their support for India's growing esports scene, looking forward to a future where the platform provides a path to discovery and stardom for a vast number of college students across the nation.
This partnership arrives at a time when esports is witnessing explosive growth on Indian campuses. Gamers are increasingly seeking devices that offer stable performance, rapid response times, and sharp, high-fidelity visuals—requirements that the sponsorship aims to meet head-on with cutting-edge technology.
