Varanasi: A significant milestone was achieved on Thursday as Real Agri Creation Private Limited, a seed company headquartered in Nagpur, Maharashtra, entered into a license agreement with the ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research (IIVR), Varanasi. This agreement facilitates the research, production, and marketing of the advanced tomato hybrid 'Kashi Abhiman', which was developed by the institute.
Growing Credibility of IIVR Varieties
The agreement underscores the increasing popularity and credibility of the advanced varieties and hybrids developed by ICAR-IIVR within the Indian vegetable seed industry. The institute's technologies have carved a distinct identity among seed companies nationwide, with a large number of firms already obtaining licenses for these varieties and hybrids. These companies are successfully carrying out seed production and marketing, further solidifying the institute's reputation.
Details of the Tomato Hybrid 'Kashi Abhiman'
Rajesh Kumar, Director of ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, who signed the agreement, stated that 'Kashi Abhiman' is a determinate growth hybrid. It produces deep red, firm-textured fruits that are highly suitable for commercial cultivation. The hybrid's characteristics make it appealing to both farmers and consumers, ensuring better yield and marketability.
