This innovative stretch generates the iconic tune 'Jai Ho' from the film Slumdog Millionaire as vehicles traverse its specially designed surface.
Location and Design of the Musical Marvel
The musical section is strategically positioned on the northbound lane from Nariman Point to Worli, immediately after the exit from the underground tunnel. This placement ensures that vehicles heading towards Worli experience the tune seamlessly during their journey.
Spanning 500 meters, the musical effect is concentrated on the first lane adjacent to the divider. This specific design allows cars to play the tune as they drive over the engineered grooves, making every trip a unique musical experience.
How the Musical Road Works
The sound is produced through precisely cut rumble strips or grooves embedded in the road surface. When vehicles travel at the optimal speed of 70-80 kmph, the friction between the tyres and these grooves generates audible musical notes inside the vehicles, accurately replicating the 'Jai Ho' melody.
The engineering behind this innovation is meticulous: the grooves are laid at exact intervals and measurements to ensure correct pitch and timing. This precision is crucial for maintaining the tune's integrity as cars pass over the strip.
