Nothing Phone 4a Series Launches in India: Pro and Standard Models

Nothing Unveils Phone (4a) Pro and Phone (4a) in India with Enhanced Features

Nothing has officially launched the Phone (4a) Pro and Phone (4a) in the Indian market, introducing significant upgrades in displays, performance chipsets, and camera systems. Both models come equipped with near-identical 50MP triple camera setups, but the Pro variant distinguishes itself with a premium metal unibody design, a faster Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip, and the advanced Glyph Matrix feature from the Phone (3). In contrast, the standard (4a) model offers a lighter plastic build and introduces the new Glyph Bar, catering to users seeking a more budget-friendly option.

Pricing and Availability Details

The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro starts at an effective price of Rs 39,999, while the Phone (4a) begins at Rs 31,999. Both smartphones will be available for purchase starting March 13, 2024, through major retailers including Flipkart, Reliance Digital, Croma, and Vijay Sales. Launch offers include bank discounts of up to Rs 4,000 on the Pro model and Rs 3,000 on the (4a), along with exchange benefits and no-cost EMI options to enhance affordability.

Nothing Phone (4a) Pro: Specifications and Key Features

The Pro model boasts a 6.83-inch 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, featuring the slimmest bezels ever on a Nothing phone at just 1.85mm, protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. It is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, which promises a 27% faster CPU, 30% better graphics performance, and 65% stronger AI capabilities compared to its predecessor. The device pairs up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM with UFS 3.1 storage, a significant upgrade from the previous UFS 2.2 standard. Thermal management is handled by a 5,300 mm² vapour chamber, and it supports high-frame-rate gaming with BGMI at 120Hz and PUBG at 90Hz.

In terms of photography, the Pro includes a 50MP main camera with a Sony LYT700c sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto lens with OIS and up to 140x ultra zoom—the longest zoom ever on a Nothing phone—an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 32MP front-facing camera. It supports Ultra XDR photos and 4K Ultra XDR video with HDR effects similar to Dolby Vision. The Glyph Matrix feature returns with 137 mini-LEDs covering a 57% larger area than the Phone (3) version, achieving a brightness of 3,000 nits.

The Indian variant of the Pro model is equipped with a 5,400mAh battery, larger than the 5,080mAh global unit, and supports 50W wired charging that can reach 60% capacity in 30 minutes. However, it does not include wireless charging. The phone measures just 7.95mm in thickness with a full-metal aluminium frame and carries an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance.

Nothing Phone (4a): Specifications and Key Features

The standard (4a) model runs on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset, offering a modest performance improvement over the 7s Gen 3, paired with LPDDR4X RAM and no vapour chamber for thermal management. It features a 6.78-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The camera setup is nearly identical to the Pro, but it uses a Samsung GN9 sensor for the main camera instead of the Sony unit, with Ultra XDR support limited to 1080p at 30fps video recording.

The (4a) retains a plastic frame with a thickness of 8.55mm and is rated IP64 for dust and water resistance. Instead of the Glyph Matrix, it incorporates a Glyph Bar with 63 mini-LEDs that reach 3,500 nits—40% brighter than the (3a) model. It also includes the larger 5,400mAh battery in the Indian variant, 50W wired charging, and the same software package as the Pro: Android 16 with Nothing OS 4.1, promising three major OS updates and six years of security patches.

Color Options and Storage Variants

The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is available in Black, Silver, and Pink colors, with storage options starting at 8GB+128GB for Rs 39,999 and going up to 12GB+256GB for Rs 45,999. The Phone (4a) comes in Pink, White, Black, and Blue colors, with prices ranging from Rs 31,999 for 8GB+128GB to Rs 37,999 for 12GB+256GB.
