28 NCC Cadets Shine at Combined Annual Training Camp

A contingent of 28 NCC cadets from DAV Public School, Mohal, comprising 15 Junior Division (JD) and 13 Junior Wing (JW) members, participated in the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-227) held at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Pandoh. The camp was organized by the 2 HP Battalion, NCC, Mandi, and spanned 10 days, offering cadets valuable opportunities to develop leadership, discipline, confidence, and teamwork.

Camp Activities and Lectures

Throughout the camp, cadets attended informative lectures on a wide range of topics, including personality development, self-awareness, moral education, judging distance for a firer, map reading, women’s empowerment, menstrual hygiene and education, medical precautions, leadership qualities of Captain Vikram Batra, and modern Indian history. Special sessions were conducted by experts from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Fire Station, Traffic Police, and Army Recruiting Office (ARO), providing practical knowledge on disaster management, fire safety, road safety, and career opportunities in the armed forces.

Competitions and Medal Haul

The camp featured several competitions and activities, including a lemon-and-spoon race, relay race, tug-of-war, quiz, debate, and cultural events, where the cadets displayed exceptional talent and sportsmanship. The school won an impressive 12 medals: eight gold and four silver. Shivanshi Thakur was declared Best Cadet Overall. Gold medal winners included Harshita Raghav, Harshit Sharma, Ayush, Animesh, and Aarav Thakur, while Paramveer, Ritesh, and Piyush secured silver medals.

Recognition and Impact

The remarkable performance of the cadets reflected their dedication, discipline, and the consistent guidance provided by the NCC unit and school. Principal RS Rana congratulated all participating cadets for bringing pride and honour to the institution. The camp not only enhanced the cadets' skills but also instilled a sense of responsibility and patriotism, preparing them for future challenges.
