Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated a three-day Mango Mela at Yadavindra Gardens in Pinjore on Friday, July 10, 2026. The event features over 200 varieties of mangoes displayed by progressive farmers from Haryana and neighboring states. Prior to the inauguration, Saini toured the exhibition stalls and interacted with farmers.
CM Calls on Farmers to Become Value Creators and Exporters
Speaking at the event, Saini emphasized that the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047 would be realized through the strength of the country's farmlands. He urged farmers to move beyond being mere producers and become value creators and exporters. "Farmers' income will see substantial growth, and India's global stature will rise further when Haryana's mangoes reach supermarkets in London, New York, Dubai, and Tokyo," he said.
Over 200 Varieties Displayed
The Chief Minister welcomed progressive farmers, horticulturists, entrepreneurs, and tourists from across the country. He noted that the exhibition of over 200 varieties reflected the experience, innovation, and hard work of the farming community. Saini congratulated the Haryana Tourism Corporation and the Horticulture Department for organizing the grand event, describing the Mango Mela as a tribute to farmers and a celebration of Haryana's agricultural excellence.
Encouraging Farmer-Producer Organizations
Saini highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India is emerging as the world's fastest-growing major economy, with villages, farmers, and agriculture forming the backbone. He stressed that farmers would receive the true value of their hard work when they become strong market participants. "A nationwide network of farmer-producer organizations (FPOs) is being developed. By coming together, small and marginal farmers can reduce production costs and enhance their income," he added.
Role of Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture
Referring to the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI), Saini said farmers stand to benefit immensely from its adoption. "Timely information on soil nutrient deficiencies, irrigation requirements, suitable crops, early disease detection, and market demand can help save time, reduce input costs, and significantly enhance farmers' income," he explained. He noted that drones are now being used for farm surveys, AI helps assess soil health, and real-time weather updates reach farmers via mobile phones.
Subsidies for Mango Cultivation
The Chief Minister stated that with agricultural landholdings becoming increasingly fragmented, the government is encouraging farmers to diversify into horticulture. "To promote mango cultivation, a subsidy of Rs 42,000 per acre is being provided for the establishment of new mango orchards," he said.
Cultural Significance and Awards
Heritage and Tourism Minister Arvind Sharma said mango growers from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh have displayed premium varieties. He described mango as not only the "king of fruits" but also an integral part of India's cultural heritage, noting that mango leaves are traditionally used in religious rituals. Sharma added that under Saini's leadership, the Haryana Government is promoting natural farming to ensure healthy and high-quality foodgrains. Several competitions have been organized during the Mango Mela, with prestigious awards such as Aam Ratna and Aam Kesari to be presented to outstanding participants.
