Ahmedabad experienced a significant relief from the scorching heat as showers brought the maximum temperature down from Monday's 40.8 degrees Celsius to 37 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, marking a welcome drop of 3.8 degrees within 24 hours. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Tuesday's maximum temperature was 4.3 degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 22.7 degrees Celsius, which was 5.4 degrees lower than the seasonal average. The city recorded 6.6 mm of rainfall during this period.

Forecast for Wednesday

For Wednesday, the IMD has forecast a maximum temperature of around 37 degrees Celsius in Ahmedabad. The sky is likely to remain cloudy, with possibilities of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms. The weather department has indicated no major change in maximum temperatures across Gujarat in the next 24 hours, followed by a drop of 2 to 4 degrees over the subsequent three days.

Orange and Yellow Alerts Issued

An Orange Alert has been issued for Wednesday in the districts of Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, and Kutch, indicating moderate thunderstorms and lightning. Meanwhile, a Yellow Alert has been declared for Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dangs, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, and Botad, where moderate thunderstorms and light to moderate rain are expected.

Temperatures Across Gujarat

On Tuesday, only a few cities and towns recorded maximum temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. Bhuj and Kandla recorded the highest maximum temperature at 41 degrees Celsius, while Rajkot registered 40.7 degrees Celsius.
