The Amritsar commissionerate police have successfully dismantled a cross-border arms and drug smuggling module following the arrest of two alleged operatives. During the operation, law enforcement officials recovered 2.225 kilograms of heroin, six sophisticated pistols, and 12 live cartridges.
Arrests and Recovery
Addressing the media on Wednesday, Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar confirmed that the accused, identified as Sukhdev Singh alias Sukh and Harjinder Singh alias Jinder, were apprehended during a targeted operation. The arrests were made after specific intelligence inputs regarding their involvement in illegal cross-border activities.
Investigation Details
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused were allegedly in contact with cross-border smugglers. They were receiving consignments of heroin for further distribution among criminal elements in Punjab. Commissioner Bhullar stated that separate First Information Reports have been registered at Chheharta and Cantonment police stations.
Further investigations are currently underway to identify other members of the module and trace its wider network in the smuggling operation. The police are working diligently to uncover the full extent of the syndicate's operations and bring all involved to justice.
