In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Anakapalle district police arrested three individuals for their involvement in the transportation of ganja. The police seized 23 kilograms of dry cannabis, a car, and three mobile phones from the suspects.
Details of the Arrest
The arrested individuals have been identified as B Srinu, an auto-rickshaw driver from Allipuram in Visakhapatnam, along with B Ramana Murthy and T Ganesh Kumar. According to the Narsipatam rural police, Srinu turned to crime due to the low income from his auto-rickshaw business. He would procure cannabis from Odisha and sell it in Visakhapatnam for easy money.
How the Operation Unfolded
Recently, Srinu made a payment to Teku Srinu, a resident of Chitrakonda in Odisha, for a supply of dry cannabis. Teku instructed B Srinu to wait near the Gabbada locality under Narsipatnam rural limits to receive 23 kilograms of the weed. When B Srinu was in the process of receiving the cannabis from Ramana Murthy and T Ganesh Kumar, the police raided the spot. The officers seized the ganja-laden car, the dry cannabis, and three mobile phones from the trio.
Legal Action and Investigation
A case has been registered against the accused, and further investigation is underway to track down the supplier. The police are also probing the network to identify any other individuals involved in the illegal trade. The operation highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb drug smuggling in the region.
