The Indian Army on Saturday confirmed that contact was made with terrorists in the Gambhir Muglan area of Rajouri district during a joint intelligence-based operation conducted in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Operation Details
In a post on social media platform X, the Army's 16 Corps stated that the encounter commenced at approximately 11:30 am after security forces initiated the operation in the region. The troops, upon coming under contact, responded with what the Army described as a “calibrated action” to neutralize the threat.
Firefight and Cordon
Subsequently, a firefight erupted between the security forces and the terrorists. To prevent any escape, a cordon was established around the area, effectively sealing off all possible exit routes. The operation remains ongoing, with security forces maintaining a tight vigil.
The joint operation underscores the continued efforts of security agencies to eliminate terrorist threats in the region. The Army has not yet disclosed further details regarding the number of terrorists involved or any casualties.
This is a developing story. More updates will follow as information becomes available.
