Visakhapatnam: In a decisive move to intensify its anti-narcotics operations, the ASR district police have apprehended four individuals involved in the illegal trade of ganja. The arrests were made in the Pathaveedhi locality under GK Veedhi mandal, where authorities seized a substantial haul of 170 kilograms of dry cannabis, valued at over Rs 80 lakh.

Details of the Arrests and Seizure

The arrested suspects have been identified as Damodharam, a native of Chittoor; Satyanarayana and Venkateswara Rao, both from Rajanagaram; and B Siddharth, a resident of GK Veedhi. According to police reports, the operation was conducted during routine vehicular checks near Pathaveedhi. A car traveling from Sileru toward GK Veedhi was intercepted, and upon inspection, the contraband was discovered.

Modus Operandi and Investigation

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the four accused procured the ganja from Odisha at low prices. Their plan was to transport the weed to other states where they could sell it at significantly higher prices, reaping substantial profits. The police have stated that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts focused on apprehending additional individuals, including the suppliers who provided the narcotics.
