Bengaluru East City Corporation Receives Sweeping Machine Through CSR
In a significant boost to urban cleanliness efforts, the Bengaluru East City Corporation has been equipped with a state-of-the-art sweeping machine, procured under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The machine was officially handed over to the Corporation in a ceremony attended by municipal officials and representatives from the contributing corporate entity.
Corporation Commissioner DS Ramesh, while addressing the gathering, highlighted the machine's capabilities. He stated that the sweeping machine is designed to clean roads efficiently and can cover a distance ranging from 4 to 10 kilometers per hour. The exact speed will depend on the condition of the road and the amount of dust present. This variable speed feature ensures optimal cleaning performance across different terrains and cleanliness levels.
The introduction of this machinery is expected to significantly enhance the Corporation's ability to maintain cleaner streets in the eastern parts of Bengaluru. Manual sweeping, which is often time-consuming and labor-intensive, will now be supplemented by this mechanical solution. The machine is equipped with advanced dust control mechanisms to minimize air pollution during operation, aligning with environmental sustainability goals.
Commissioner Ramesh further emphasized that the CSR initiative reflects a growing partnership between the public sector and private enterprises in addressing civic challenges. He expressed gratitude to the corporate donor and urged other businesses to come forward with similar contributions to improve urban infrastructure and services.
The sweeping machine will be deployed initially on major roads and arterial routes in the East Zone. The Corporation plans to train existing sanitation staff to operate the machine, ensuring seamless integration into daily cleaning routines. This move is part of a broader strategy to modernize waste management and street cleaning operations across Bengaluru.
Residents of the East Zone have welcomed the development, expressing hope that it will lead to cleaner neighborhoods and reduced health hazards from accumulated dust and debris. The Corporation has assured that the machine will be maintained regularly to ensure long-term functionality and effectiveness.
