Cow Theft Caught on CCTV in Mangaluru, Case Registered

A case has been registered at Subrahmanya police station in Mangaluru after unidentified individuals were captured on CCTV camera allegedly stealing a cow and transporting it in a car in a cruel manner during the early hours of Wednesday.

Incident Details

According to police, the incident occurred between 2:30 am and 2:50 am on the road in front of Shashti Lodge in Subrahmanya village of Kadaba taluk. CCTV footage from a nearby shop reportedly captured two individuals catching the cow that was standing by the roadside and forcefully loading it into a car before fleeing from the spot.

Legal Action

Based on a complaint filed by Shekhar A, police registered a case under Sections 303(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 4, 5, and 12 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Section 11(1)(d) of the same act, and Sections 66 and 192(A) of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act. Police said further investigation is underway.

The theft has raised concerns about animal safety in the region, with locals demanding stricter surveillance and swift action against the perpetrators. Authorities are reviewing additional CCTV footage to identify the suspects and the vehicle used in the crime.
