Dhanbad Police Busts Marijuana Smuggling Racket at Railway Yard

A major Marijuana smuggling racket operating through the railway network was uncovered in a joint operation by Dhanbad Police and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at the railway yard near Kathpul Baramasia under the Dhanbad police station area. Two smugglers were arrested, while one accomplice managed to escape from the scene.

Seizure of Contraband

Police recovered nearly five kilograms of Marijuana, meticulously packed in plastic packets, along with two mobile phones from the possession of the arrested accused. The contraband was allegedly being transported through the Ganga-Sutlej Express from the railway yard.

Operation Details

City SP Rithvik Srivastava stated that the police received a secret tip-off on Wednesday regarding the illegal transportation of Marijuana via train. Acting promptly, a joint team of Dhanbad police and RPF personnel launched a raid and set up a trap near the Kathpul railway yard.

The operation led to the recovery of approximately five kilograms of Marijuana, divided into five separate plastic packets. The arrested accused were identified as 37-year-old Mukesh Ram, a resident of Duhatand under Dhanbad police station area, and 25-year-old Rahul Kumar Modi, a resident of Fatehpur in Jamtara district.

Confession and Modus Operandi

During interrogation, Rahul confessed that he worked as a railway attendant and used his position to smuggle Marijuana through trains. He also admitted to prior involvement in this illegal trade. Further investigations are underway to identify other members of the racket and trace the source of the contraband.
