Thiruvananthapuram: Dr Noble Gracious, the executive director of the Kerala State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (K-SOTTO), was honoured at the 2026 Mid-Term Conference of the Indian Society of Organ Transplantation (ISOT) held in Bangalore. He received an award for his outstanding oral paper presentation on topics related to organ transplantation and donation, highlighting the significant contributions of K-SOTTO in this field.
Conference Overview
The two-day conference took place on May 2 and 3 in Bangalore, with the theme 'Infections and Transplantation'. It brought together leading organ transplant experts and doctors from across the country to discuss the latest developments and challenges in the field.
Dr Gracious's Presentations
Dr Gracious presented three research papers covering various aspects of organ donation. The first paper focused on estimating waitlist mortality in Kerala's organ transplantation programme using person-time and survival analysis methods. The second paper examined the perspectives of empanelled doctors on brain-stem death certification through a cross-sectional survey conducted in Kerala. The third paper analysed the impact of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities on public attitudes towards deceased organ donation, based on 2025 data from Kerala.
Award Presentation
The award was presented by ISOT president Dr Sanjay Kolte and secretary Dr Manish Balwani during the conference. This recognition is a significant acknowledgement of the excellent work and research conducted by K-SOTTO in the field of organ donation in Kerala.
