Prayagraj: In a shocking incident, three members of a family were arrested by the Industrial Area police on Tuesday for allegedly killing a minor girl and concealing her body beneath a haystack on Monday evening.
Details of the Arrest
The accused have been identified as Manni Lal (60), his wife Geeta (50), and their son Karan (20), all residents of Vyohara village. They were close relatives of the eight-year-old victim, who was stabbed to death due to an old enmity. Police revealed that the prime accused, Manni Lal, was the girl's grandfather and the paternal uncle of her father.
Police Action
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Yamuna Nagar) Vivek Chandra Yadav stated, “Police swung into action on Monday evening when Sushil Kumar, the father of the girl, lodged a missing complaint. During a search operation with family members, the body was discovered beneath a haystack at the accused's residence on Monday night.” The girl was a Class II student at the primary school in Vyohara. Initial investigations suggest that an old feud led to the murder. Further inquiries are ongoing.
Second Incident: Minor Boy Found Dead
In a separate case, the body of a minor boy was recovered from shrubs near Mejaroad railway station under the Meja police station limits on Tuesday morning. The boy had gone missing on Monday afternoon, and his body was found the following day. The discovery was made when shepherds noticed the body and alerted the police. Senior officers rushed to the spot and sent the body for postmortem. The cause of death remains unknown, and an investigation is underway.
