Panaji: Goa continued to experience unusually warm and humid weather conditions on Sunday, with Panaji recording a minimum temperature of 29.2°C — nearly 3°C above normal and among the hottest nights the state has witnessed so far this month.
According to data released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the overnight minimum temperature in Panaji was 2.8°C above normal. The previous highest minimum temperature recorded this month was 29°C on May 11.
Day temperatures also remained above seasonal averages. Panaji recorded a maximum temperature of 35.2°C, which was 1.5°C above normal, while Mormugao registered 34.2°C, only 0.9°C above normal.
Humidity levels stayed high across the coastal state, adding to discomfort. Relative humidity stood at 74% in Panaji and 87% in Mormugao on Sunday morning.
Despite the sultry conditions, the IMD has forecast isolated light rainfall and thundershowers during late afternoon and evening hours over the next three days.
Light rain or thundershowers are likely to continue until May 20, with no weather warnings issued for the state. From May 21 onwards, dry weather is expected to prevail across the state, according to the forecast.
