Gurgaon Gets Respite from Heat as Thunderstorms Bring Light Rain

Gurgaon: Thunderstorms and light rain provided relief from warm and humid conditions on Saturday, reducing the minimum temperature by approximately two degrees Celsius. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a gradual increase in maximum temperature by 4-6 degrees Celsius over the next five days, with no significant change expected thereafter.

Temperature Drops Across Stations

On Saturday, the minimum temperature at Gurgaon KVK settled at 22.1 degrees Celsius, down from 24.4 degrees Celsius recorded a day earlier. At the Gurgaon AWS, the minimum temperature dropped to 20.1 degrees Celsius from 22.3 degrees Celsius on Friday. Similarly, NorthCap University recorded a minimum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, compared to 23.3 degrees Celsius the previous day.

Maximum Temperature Sees Slight Rise

Gurgaon KVK registered 34.6 degrees Celsius, a rise of 2 degrees Celsius, while NorthCap University recorded the highest maximum temperature among the city's stations at 36.2 degrees Celsius, which was 2.6 degrees Celsius higher than on Friday.

Weather Systems and Forecast

According to IMD, a western disturbance persists as a cyclonic circulation over north Haryana and adjoining areas. Another upper-air cyclonic circulation, earlier positioned over central Pakistan and adjoining northwest Rajasthan, now lies over central Pakistan and adjoining west Rajasthan.

“Rainfall activity is likely to become more isolated in the coming days, with only a few places expected to receive light showers and thunderstorms. The intensity of thunderstorms will reduce compared to the previous spell, and temperatures are expected to gradually rise, although brief spells of rain at isolated locations cannot be ruled out. No severe weather event is anticipated at present,” an IMD official said.
