Himachal Rain: Yellow Alert for Thunderstorms Till June 17

Shimla: Moderate to heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting a wet spell across the state until June 17.

The weather office has also issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-50 kmph at isolated places over the next four days.

Kasauli recorded the highest rainfall at 105 mm, followed by Dharampur (86.6 mm), Dhaulakuan and Bharmaur (43.5 mm each), Palampur (40 mm), Solan (34.6 mm), and Jot and Sarahan (30 mm each).

Other areas that received significant rainfall included Nahan (26.7 mm), Paonta Sahib (25.2 mm), Narkanda (20.6 mm), and Shimla and Kufri, which recorded 20 mm each.

Thunderstorms and lightning were reported from several parts of the state, including Shimla, Jot, Kangra, Bhuntar, Sundernagar, Manali and Kufri on Thursday evening. Hailstorms were also reported from Kumarsain and Malana.

Meanwhile, Kukumseri in the tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti remained the coldest place in the state, recording a minimum temperature of minus 5.6 degrees Celsius, according to the Met department.
