Home Guard Dies in Car Crash on Delhi-Alwar Highway

A 45-year-old home guard lost his life on Wednesday afternoon when the car he was driving collided with a roadside culvert on the Delhi-Alwar National Highway (NH-248A) near Bodikothi Chowk in Ferozepur Jhirka, Gurgaon. The deceased, identified as Rakesh alias Raju, was returning from official work at the police lines in Nuh along with two colleagues.

Details of the Accident

The incident occurred around 3:30 pm when the trio was heading back to Ferozepur Jhirka. According to police, the car suddenly veered out of control and rammed into the culvert with such force that the vehicle sustained extensive damage. Rakesh, a resident of Gulalta village in Punhana who lived in Ferozepur Jhirka, died on the spot. His two colleagues, Mahesh from Prajapati Mohalla and Arif from Rawli village, were injured and rushed to the district hospital in Mandikhera.

Investigation Underway

An officer stated that a stray animal crossing the road is suspected to have caused the driver to lose control, but the exact cause will be confirmed after a thorough investigation. Police teams from the Ferozepur Jhirka station responded promptly, shifting the injured to the hospital and sending Rakesh's body for postmortem. The body was later handed over to his family. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to piece together the sequence of events.
