The rescue took place in the village of Kholi, located in the Kangra district. Acting on a tip-off, a team from the forest department rushed to the spot and safely recovered the python. The snake was found in a bag kept in the man's house. Officials said the python was in good health and measured about 8 feet in length.

The forest department has registered a case against the man under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. He has been charged with illegal possession and transportation of a protected species. The accused could face imprisonment and a fine if convicted. The python has been sent to a rehabilitation center for observation before being released into its natural habitat.
