Kerala Temperatures to Rise 3-4°C Above Normal: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that temperatures across Kerala are very likely to rise 3-4 degrees Celsius above normal on Saturday and Sunday. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach around 40 degrees Celsius at isolated places in Palakkad, 39 degrees in Kollam, 38 degrees in Thrissur and Kottayam, 37 degrees in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kannur, Kasaragod, and Kozhikode, and 36 degrees in Thiruvananthapuram.

Recent Temperature Records

On Friday, Palakkad recorded a maximum temperature of 39.7 degrees Celsius, while Kollam reported 38.6 degrees Celsius. The IMD had issued an orange alert for heat wave conditions at isolated places in Palakkad and Thrissur on Friday. However, no heat wave warning has been issued for any location on Saturday.

Thunderstorm Forecast

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 km/h are very likely at one or two places on April 27 and 28. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against the heat and stay updated with weather alerts.
