Kudremukh National Park Forest Fire Brought Under Control
Kudremukh Forest Fire Doused, No Wildlife Harmed

A forest fire that erupted on Saturday in the Kudremukh National Park (KNP) area was brought under control the same night following a swift response by the forest department. The blaze was reported from a grassland patch in Belthangady, damaging approximately 6 to 7 acres of land.

No Wildlife Harmed

Officials confirmed that no wild animals were injured or killed in the incident. The fire was contained before it could spread to densely forested zones where wildlife is more concentrated.

Suspected Human Cause

Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) of the Kudremukh Wildlife Division, Shivaram M Babu, stated that the fire is suspected to be man-made and may have originated from nearby human settlements. We are assessing the exact cause, he said. Local residents reported seeing flames on the hillside, visible from Aladangady town.

Rapid Response and Preparedness

Shivaram Babu highlighted that all forest camps are on high alert. Our teams respond immediately after receiving the alert and managed to douse the fire within hours, he explained. Fire watchers appointed last year continue to assist forest personnel, ensuring rapid action and minimizing damage.

The forest department has urged visitors and locals to remain vigilant and report any signs of fire immediately to prevent future incidents.
