Kuvempu University 35th Annual Convocation Scheduled for May 6
Shivamogga: Kuvempu University is set to host its 35th annual convocation on May 6 at the Jnana Sahyadri campus in Shankaraghatta. The ceremony will honor 79 meritorious students with a total of 155 gold medals. Vice-Chancellor Sharath Ananthamurthy announced on Monday that female achievers dominate this year's honors, with 68 women and 11 men securing top accolades. Additionally, 29 students will receive 21 cash prizes.
Honorary Doctorates for Distinguished Achievers
During the convocation, honorary doctorate degrees will be conferred upon three distinguished individuals. Following official approval from the governor, the university selected Konanduru Lingappa for his service in social and cultural sectors, KV Akshara for contributions to theatre, and Professor HA Ranganath for his service to the education sector.
Top Academic Achievers
The highlight of this year's academic excellence is Abhishek HM from the MA Kannada department, who secured an impressive 10 gold medals and two cash prizes. Other notable achievers include Raksha (MSc Environmental Science) with seven medals, Srushti R (MSc Biotechnology) with six, and Sahana Ganesh Shet (MBA) and Sajana S (MA Sociology), each securing five gold medals.
The university will also confer PhD degrees on 163 candidates, with the science faculty leading at 84 researchers.
Discontinuation of Physical Marks Cards
Registrar R Thimmarayappa clarified that physical marks cards have been discontinued for three years in accordance with government and UGC mandates to prevent forgery. Students are urged to use DigiLocker for official documents. This announcement followed recent violence on campus during a protest by NSUI activists.
Thimmarayappa also noted that the university is coordinating with examination officials to expedite pending results and will provide regular updates via media bulletins. A police investigation is underway regarding recent campus property damage during student protests.
