In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Himachal Pradesh police arrested a 22-year-old youth from Ludhiana for allegedly supplying heroin in the Kandaghat area. The accused, identified as Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Ludhiana, was apprehended during a routine checkpoint operation near Kandaghat bus stand.
Details of the Arrest
According to the police, Gurpreet Singh was traveling on a motorcycle when he was stopped for a routine check. During the search, the police recovered 10 grams of heroin from his possession. The motorcycle used for transportation has also been seized. The accused was immediately taken into custody and is being questioned to ascertain the source of the contraband and his network.
Police Statement
Superintendent of Police, Solan, said that the arrest was part of a continuous effort to curb the drug menace in the region. He added that the police are investigating whether the accused was part of a larger drug supply chain operating between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. The accused has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
