Sources indicate that these individuals were apprehended from North 24 Parganas and subsequently transported to Malda under strict police vigilance. This holding centre, the first of its kind in the state of West Bengal, was established on May 24. Initially, it housed nine persons, with six more arriving later. All detainees have been handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF), which is responsible for their deportation to Bangladesh.
