Patna: Jayprakash Narayan International Airport celebrated 'Yatri Suvidha Diwas 2026' on Monday with a series of passenger-focused initiatives, cultural programmes, and community outreach activities aimed at enhancing the travel experience while showcasing Bihar's rich heritage and promoting social responsibility.
Inaugural Ceremony and Welcome
The celebrations began with the collective singing of Vande Mataram. Passengers arriving at and departing from the airport were welcomed with 'Tika-Chandan' and special welcome kits, creating a festive atmosphere across the terminal.
Cultural Performances and Exhibitions
To make the occasion more engaging, selfie booths were installed outside the terminal building, while cultural and folk dance performances were organised throughout the day. Local cuisines, traditional art, and craft exhibitions were also displayed, offering travellers a glimpse into Bihar's cultural richness and craftsmanship.
Passenger Feedback and Services
As part of efforts to improve passenger services, the airport set up a dedicated feedback wall inside the terminal, encouraging travellers to share their suggestions and experiences regarding airport facilities and operations.
Health and Environmental Initiatives
The airport also organised a blood donation camp, free health check-up camp, and free eye check-up camp for passengers and contractual employees. In a push towards environmental sustainability, a sapling plantation drive was conducted on the city-side premises of the airport, and saplings were distributed to arriving passengers.
Youth Engagement and Education
To promote youth engagement, a painting competition was held for students of Kendriya Vidyalaya. Students from St Xavier's College were invited for an airport tour and career counselling session, providing them with insights into airport operations and opportunities in the aviation industry.
Airport director Chandra Pratap Dwivedi said the celebration reflects the airport's continued commitment to improving passenger amenities for safe and seamless operations.
