Rajasthan seeks EU partnership for agroforestry

Jaipur: Rajasthan agriculture minister Kirori Lal Meena said Friday the state is working towards establishing cooperation with the European Union to promote agroforestry, climate-resilient agriculture, biodiversity conservation and enhanced farmer incomes.

The remarks came during a meeting between the minister and a European Union delegation to India at Pant Krishi Bhawan in Jaipur. The discussions focused on potential areas of collaboration in agroforestry, sustainable farming practices, climate adaptation and natural resource conservation.

Meena said the state govt is exploring a partnership with the European Union to strengthen agroforestry initiatives in Rajasthan. “As part of the proposed collaboration, pilot projects are planned in Nagaur and Barmer districts in the first phase,” he said, adding the initiative would provide farmers access to modern technologies, innovative farming practices and international expertise, helping improve agricultural productivity and sustainability.
