The Railway Protection Force (RPF) confiscated 61 kilograms of marijuana valued at approximately Rs 30.50 lakh during an inspection of the Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express at Ranchi railway station on Sunday, as confirmed by police on Monday.
Operation Narcos Leads to Major Drug Bust
A specialized team conducted the raid under the banner of 'Operation Narcos' and apprehended three individuals: Ayush Singh (22), Prince Kumar (21), and Ankit Pathak (19), all hailing from the Buxar district of Bihar. According to the RPF, the accused were seated in a coach carrying four trolley bags and three backpacks. During interrogation, they confessed to transporting the drugs within their luggage. The suspects were removed from the train at Namkum station and subsequently handed over to the Government Railway Police for further legal proceedings.
Additional Arrests for Brown Sugar
In separate operations conducted within the Argora and Sukhdevnagar police station limits on Sunday, four individuals were arrested for possession of brown sugar, as reported on Monday. Under the Sukhdevnagar police station jurisdiction, Aniket Agrawal, Kumud Choubey, and Ankush Choubey were apprehended with 16.43 grams of brown sugar in Vidyanagar Colony. Meanwhile, Sandip Dey (34) was arrested with 3.54 grams of brown sugar during a raid at Harmu ground under Argora police station. All accused have been sent to judicial custody, authorities added.
