The revered Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra, one of northern India's most challenging pilgrimages, will commence on July 10 and continue until July 23, 2026. The sacred shrine, perched at an altitude of 18,750 feet, features a towering 72-foot Shivalingam and attracts thousands of Shiva devotees annually.
Preparations and Coordination
A key coordination meeting was held at the Nirmand Committee hall, chaired via video conference by Kullu Deputy Commissioner Anurag Chander Sharma. Officials from various departments finalized arrangements, with Budhi Singh Thakur, chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Milk Federation, among the attendees.
Safety and Infrastructure
Nirmand SDM Jagdeep Singh Rathore confirmed deployment of medical teams, revenue officials, police, forest staff, and rescue teams at critical points. The Jal Shakti Department will ensure drinking water at all camping sites. The route is divided into six sectors, with five base camps at Singhgad, Thachdu, Kunsha, Bhim Dawari, and Parvati Bagh. Each sector will have dedicated magistrates, police, mountaineering personnel, and departmental officials. Additional support includes 18 SDRF personnel and 24 rescue workers from AVIMAS.
Registration and Guidance
An online registration portal will be introduced soon, along with limited offline facilities. Signboards and information panels are being installed along the route. Devotees will first offer prayers to Mata Chalashni at Jaon village before the 35-kilometer trek.
With these preparations, thousands of devotees are expected to embark on this spiritual journey, where faith rises above the clouds into the heart of the Himalayas.
