Three Arrested for Ganja Smuggling Near Tirupati

In a late-night operation on Thursday, Tirupati police arrested three individuals on charges of smuggling ganja near the temple city. The accused have been identified as M Hemadri, a resident of Jeevakona locality, and Nagaraju Madhusudhan and S Radha Krishnan, both natives of Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu.

Seizure and Legal Action

Police seized 600 grams of ganja from the possession of the accused at the time of their arrest near the Jeevakona locality. The Alipiri police registered a case under various provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused were produced before the local court in the presence of the Tahsildar. Subsequently, the court sent them to a 14-day judicial remand.

Police Warning

Tirupati Superintendent of Police L Subbarayudu issued a stern warning, stating that the district police wing displays zero tolerance towards ganja smuggling and usage in the temple city. He emphasized that repeated offenders will be dealt with seriously if they continue to engage in ganja smuggling-related activities.

The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region, particularly in the vicinity of the revered Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. Authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to drug smuggling.
