Tiger Kills Man in Chandrapur Fields, Body Found After 24 Hours

A 46-year-old man was killed in a tiger attack in the agricultural fields of Vahanagaon village in Chimur taluka, with his body recovered nearly a day later on Friday evening. The victim, Shankar Dadaji Masram, had returned to his native village on Thursday from Khambada in Warora taluka to attend a religious programme. During the visit, he went to perform a pooja for his newly purchased two-wheeler near a mahua tree in the fields.

According to officials, a tiger, believed to have been hiding along the stream, attacked him, resulting in his death on the spot. When Masram did not return home, his family began searching and later filed a missing complaint. On Friday evening, villagers and relatives located his scarf and spectacles near a stream close to the cremation ground. His mutilated body was later found a short distance away.

Forest Department Response

Forest officials from the Khadsangi buffer range reached the site, conducted a panchnama, and sent the body for post-mortem to the sub-district hospital in Chimur. The Forest Department has announced financial assistance to the family and urged residents to remain vigilant amid increased tiger movement.
