Kochi: In a disturbing incident, the Nedumbassery police have arrested two individuals for allegedly trapping, dragging, and killing a stray dog in the Desom Kunnumpuram area. The accused have been identified as Puneet Raj, 55, from Valparai, and Ranjan, 64, from Mannanthuruth, Varapuzha. The incident took place on the morning of May 27, when the dog was dragged along the road and brutally killed. A witness captured the act on a mobile phone and subsequently filed a complaint with the police, leading to the arrests.
Second Incident: Ganja Seizure at Angamaly Railway Station
In a separate operation, the Angamaly police arrested two West Bengal natives on Tuesday for possession of 12 kilograms of ganja. The arrested persons have been identified as Rafiyul Mandal, 21, and Parvesh Mandal, 19, both natives of Murshidabad. According to police reports, the duo procured the ganja from Odisha and were intercepted at the Angamaly railway station based on a tip-off received by district police chief K S Sudarshan.
Details of the Ganja Seizure
The contraband was found hidden in special packets concealed inside two shoulder bags. The accused had purchased the ganja at a rate of 3,000 rupees per kilogram and intended to sell it at ten times the price in the local market. The police are investigating further to trace the supply chain and any possible connections to larger drug networks.
