A tragic road accident in Jharkhand's Giridih district claimed two lives and left five others injured on Thursday. The collision occurred between a passenger bus and a car in the Lal Bazar area under Dhanwar police station limits around 5 am.
Details of the Accident
According to police officials, the bus was traveling towards Khorimahua when it collided head-on with a car that was heading from Deoghar to Birni. The force of the impact left the car severely mangled, trapping the occupants inside.
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as 70-year-old Bangali Hadi and 24-year-old Kumkum Kumari, both residents of the Birni police station area. They were passengers in the car. The injured individuals include Sukri Devi, Tara Devi, Ronit Kumar, Jaynarayan, and Arvind Yadav, all of whom were traveling in the same vehicle. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The group was returning from a wedding ceremony in Deoghar when the accident took place.
Rescue and Investigation
Brajesh Kumar, the officer-in-charge of Dhanwar police station, stated that local residents were the first to respond, rescuing the passengers from the wreckage. "On receiving information, we reached the spot with our team, ensured the injured were shifted to the hospital. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident, including possible negligence and vehicle speed," Kumar said.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination. Authorities are conducting a thorough probe to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the collision, including whether overspeeding or driver negligence played a role.
