Madhya Pradesh UCC Bill to Be Passed in Monsoon Session: CM Yadav
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill will be passed during the monsoon session of the state assembly. The five-day session is scheduled to begin on July 20.
Speaking to reporters, CM Yadav stated that the state government is committed to implementing the UCC, which aims to provide a uniform legal framework for all citizens, irrespective of religion. He emphasized that the bill has been carefully drafted after consultations with legal experts and stakeholders.
The announcement comes amid ongoing debates across the country regarding the UCC. Several states have shown interest in adopting similar legislation. The Madhya Pradesh government plans to introduce the bill early in the session to ensure adequate discussion and passage.
Opposition parties have criticized the move, arguing that it could infringe upon religious freedoms. However, the ruling party maintains that the UCC will promote social harmony and gender justice.
The monsoon session is expected to be a busy one, with several other legislative agendas also on the table. The passage of the UCC bill will mark a significant step in Madhya Pradesh's legal landscape.
