Trichy Marks World Blood Donor Day with Donation Drives and Felicitations

Trichy witnessed a series of events on World Blood Donor Day, featuring blood donation camps and special appreciation ceremonies to recognize the efforts of regular donors. The initiatives aimed to raise awareness and encourage more healthy individuals to contribute to this life-saving cause.

Blood Donation Camp at Vignesh School

On Saturday, city-based cardiologist Dr. Senthil Kumar Nallusamy, in partnership with Trichy Reddy Nala Trust and Uyirthuli Blood Bank, organized a blood donation camp at the Vignesh School campus in Srirangam. The camp focused on educating the public about the importance of blood donation and motivating healthy individuals to become regular donors.

Ordnance Factory Trichy (OFT) Donation Drive

Similarly, Ordnance Factory Trichy (OFT) conducted a blood donation camp at the OFT Community Hall in collaboration with SRM Medical College Hospital on the same day. Approximately 50 donors participated, including members of the public, students, employees, and Defence Security Corps (DSC) personnel. All donors were presented with appreciation certificates and nutritional supplements as a token of gratitude.

Appreciation Ceremony for Voluntary Donors

On Sunday, Makkal Sakthi Iyakkam organized an appreciation ceremony for voluntary blood donors in front of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s statue near Ponmalai armoury. The event was presided over by K.C. Neelamegam, state treasurer of the outfit, who himself has donated blood 41 times. Dedicated donors were honored, including R. Naganathan, a railway diesel workshop supervisor with 18 donations; M. Rajadurai, a diesel senior technician with 14 donations; and Vijayakumar, a trustee of Amirtham social service trust, who has donated blood 26 times.
