Lucknow: Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh on Sunday said that 170 farmers, including 20 women, will travel on the inaugural flight from Noida International Airport on Monday, describing it as a historic moment for the region and the country.
Speaking ahead of the flight, Singh said it was perhaps unprecedented in world history that farmers whose land was acquired for an airport would become passengers on its first flight. He credited chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership and vision for turning that aspiration into reality for the farmers of Jewar.
The delegation, led by Singh, will fly from Jewar to Lucknow at 8 am and meet the CM. The farmers will thank the CM for the development initiatives undertaken in the region, and he is expected to interact with them during the visit.
Singh said the inaugural flight would symbolise the aspirations of North India and include not only landowners but also women and agricultural labourers who were displaced by the airport project, even if their land was not directly acquired.
Calling it an emotional and proud moment, the MLA said the initiative reflected Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making air travel accessible to ordinary citizens. He also invited people to visit Jewar Airport and witness the sentiments and experiences of the farmers participating in the historic flight.
