A tragic road accident occurred near Konanduru in Thirthahalli taluk, Shivamogga district, on Saturday, claiming the life of a five-year-old boy and injuring over 25 others. The incident took place on Hullatti Road when a mid-sized commercial vehicle carrying approximately 30 passengers lost control and overturned due to heavy rain and low visibility.
Details of the Accident
The deceased was identified as Mohammed Shaqeeb, a resident of Harihar in Davanagere district. He died on the spot from the impact of the crash. Another passenger sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a hospital, while more than 25 others suffered minor to moderate injuries.
Victims' Journey
The victims, all from Harihar, had traveled to Hanagerekatta in Shivamogga district to offer prayers. After their visit, they were en route to the Peeranagudda Dargah for an overnight stay when the accident happened.
Medical Response
Following the accident, the injured were taken to Konanduru hospital for primary treatment. Those requiring advanced medical care were later shifted to Thirthahalli Taluk Hospital and the district hospital.
Legal Action
A case has been registered at Thirthahalli police station, and investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
