In preparation for the annual Urs Mela in Nakodar, Jalandhar district, authorities have deployed over 800 police personnel and implemented traffic restrictions to ensure smooth conduct of the event. The mela, which draws thousands of devotees, is set to commence shortly.
Security Arrangements
Senior police officials, including the Deputy Inspector General of Police and the Senior Superintendent of Police, reviewed the security arrangements. A total of 800 cops, including armed police and traffic personnel, have been deployed. Additionally, quick reaction teams and anti-sabotage squads will be on standby.
Traffic Curbs
Traffic restrictions have been put in place around the mela venue. Heavy vehicles will be diverted from the area, and parking has been arranged at designated spots. Commuters are advised to use alternative routes to avoid congestion.
The Urs Mela is a significant religious event held annually at the shrine of a revered Sufi saint. The administration has made elaborate arrangements for water, electricity, sanitation, and medical facilities for the devotees.
