A Class X student at Delhi Public School (DPS) in Agra suffered severe injuries after being allegedly assaulted by a classmate on the school premises following a verbal altercation, police reported on Tuesday.
Details of the Incident
According to the victim's father, the classmate struck his son using a metal knuckle, causing a fractured jaw and the loss of three teeth, along with significant blood loss. The incident occurred on the morning of April 25 in the Shastripuram area under Sikandra police limits. Both students are 15 years old and in different sections of Class X. The victim was called to the second-floor corridor outside his classroom under some pretext, but the exact reason for the assault remains unclear.
Official Response
Agra District Magistrate Manish Bansal has ordered an administrative inquiry committee, including the Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate and other officials, to investigate the matter. The committee has been directed to immediately obtain CCTV footage from the school. Agra City Deputy Commissioner of Police Sayed Ali Abbas confirmed that a general diary entry has been recorded and details forwarded to the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) for legal proceedings. Further action, including a possible FIR, will be taken as per JJB directives, as both individuals are minors.
Victim's Condition
The injured student is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Agra. His father, who owns a mobile showroom and is active on social media, stated that his son is unable to speak due to the severity of his injuries. The attack has left a deep psychological impact, making the child fearful of even thinking about school. Doctors have indicated that he may not be able to eat properly for the next three months. In a video shared by the father, the boy is seen severely traumatized and spitting blood.
DPS Agra authorities were unavailable for comment on the incident.
