Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has achieved a significant milestone by crossing the 400-million passenger mark since its launch, reinforcing Bengaluru's position as one of India's fastest-growing global aviation hubs.
Record Passenger and Cargo Traffic in FY 2025-26
According to Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), the airport handled 44.4 million passengers and 5.3 lakh tonnes of cargo during the financial year 2025-26, registering a 6% year-on-year growth in overall passenger traffic.
International and Domestic Traffic Surge
International passenger traffic saw a sharp increase of 24%, reaching 7.2 million passengers, while domestic traffic grew by 3% to 37.2 million. This growth was fueled by expanding global connectivity and sustained travel demand.
Expansive Connectivity and Recognition
KIA currently offers non-stop flights to over 78 domestic and 34 international destinations, strengthening Bengaluru's status as a leading business and innovation centre. The airport also climbed from 48th to 41st in the Skytrax World Top 100 Airports rankings and secured multiple regional and global service awards.
Cargo Growth and Export Highlights
Cargo operations grew steadily, with strong exports of flowers, fruits, pharmaceuticals, and electronics. The airport handled nearly 60 million rose stems, while mango exports hit a five-year high, underscoring its role as a key logistics hub.
Record Flight Movements
Operational activity reached record levels, with the airport handling 2.8 lakh air traffic movements in a year — averaging 769 flights per day. The busiest day saw 1.4 lakh passengers and 837 flights, demonstrating KIA's capacity and efficiency.
