India's Defence Secretary has confirmed that the BrahMos missile deal with Vietnam has already been signed, while the agreement with Indonesia is in its final stages. The Philippines became the first foreign buyer of the BrahMos missile system from India, signing a contract worth nearly USD 375 million in 2022.
BrahMos Exports Expand
The Defence Secretary stated that the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile system is gaining traction in the international market. Philippines: First Foreign Buyer
In 2022, the Philippines signed a contract valued at approximately USD 375 million to acquire the BrahMos missile system. This made the Philippines the first foreign customer for the missile, which is a joint venture between India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Russia's NPO Mashinostroyeniya.
The BrahMos missile is known for its speed, precision, and versatility, capable of being launched from land, sea, and air platforms. The export deals underscore India's growing capabilities in defence manufacturing and its ambition to become a major arms exporter.
