Buxar: In a tragic incident at Pulia Ghat near Ahirauli village under the Town police station in Buxar district on Friday, one of three children who had gone to bathe in the Ganga drowned. While local residents managed to rescue two children, one of them succumbed to injuries during treatment, and another remains missing.
Details of the Incident
According to police reports, the incident occurred when Manoj Singh, a resident of Ahirauli village, had gone to the ghat to perform Shraddh rituals for his deceased father. During the ceremony, his seven-year-old son, Mukul Singh, along with 13-year-old Sanjeev Singh, son of his brother-in-law Chhotu Singh, and another relative entered the river to bathe. The children ventured into deep water and began drowning.
Locals immediately jumped into the river and rescued Sanjeev Singh and another child. However, Sanjeev died during treatment. Search operations for Mukul Singh were ongoing until the filing of this report.
Anger Among Residents
The incident sparked anger among local residents, who alleged delay and negligence in launching rescue operations. They claimed that timely action by the administration could have prevented the tragedy.
Town SHO Manoj Kumar stated, “Police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident. Search efforts are underway to trace the missing child, and further investigation is being carried out.”
