Chandigarh: Just days after recording its coldest May day ever, with the mercury dropping to 25.3°C, Chandigarh is set for another spell of relatively pleasant weather. The Meteorological Centre has forecast rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds over the next two days.
Temperature Overview
On Wednesday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 38.1°C and a minimum of 24.6°C, both slightly below normal for early June.
Forecast for June 4-7
According to the forecast, partly cloudy skies with light rain and thunderstorms are expected on June 4 and 5, followed by clearer conditions over the subsequent three days. Daytime temperatures are likely to stay below the 40°C mark over the next five days — hovering around 38°C on June 4, dipping to 37°C on June 5 and 6, and inching up to 38°C on June 7. Night temperatures are expected to remain between 24°C and 26°C.
Weather Warning
The weather department has also issued a warning of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40–60 kmph at isolated places between June 4 and 5. Residents have been advised to exercise caution during storm activity and avoid taking shelter under trees or near unstable structures.
Outlook from June 8
From June 8 onwards, conditions are expected to improve, with mainly clear skies returning and temperatures gradually climbing, potentially touching 39°C.
