A family of three was tragically killed in a devastating highway crash in Haryana's Rewari district during the early hours of Monday. The victims were identified as Brijmohan (40), his wife Anita (38), and their son Nimesh (15), all residents of Bodia Kamalpur village in Rewari.
The incident occurred around 1:30 AM on National Highway-11 near Dhamlawas ITI when their Mahindra Scorpio collided with a truck. The family was returning home from Sikar, Rajasthan, where they had gone to enroll Nimesh in a coaching institute. Brijmohan was employed with a private company, while Anita worked as a government school teacher. Nimesh was a Class XI student.
According to police, the impact of the collision was so severe that the SUV was completely mangled, trapping the occupants inside. It remains unclear whether the SUV was speeding or the truck was parked improperly on the highway. Rescue teams faced a challenging operation, using gas cutters to extricate the bodies after nearly two hours. Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrific, with debris scattered across the highway and traffic brought to a standstill for several hours.
Police reported that the truck driver fled the spot immediately after the accident. A manhunt has been launched to trace the driver, while investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the crash. Rampura police station SHO Sanjay Kumar confirmed that the bodies were shifted to Rewari Civil Hospital for postmortem examination. Traffic on the highway was later restored. Brijmohan is survived by his elderly parents and a married sister.
