A relaxing day by the sea turned into an unimaginable tragedy when four women lost their lives to the treacherous waves off Ennore in Chennai on Tuesday.
The victims, identified as Kausalya (45), Vijaya (38), Kala (40), and Renuka (35), had ventured into the water for a bath when strong currents pulled them under. What began as a routine coastal visit ended in heartbreak for their families and communities.

Among the deceased, Renuka (35) was a resident of the Sri Lankan refugee camp in Gummidipoondi, adding an international dimension to the coastal tragedy.
