In a major step for Indian students aiming to study in Germany, the German Pathway Program (GPP) has been launched as a structured pathway to German public universities. Unlike traditional 13th-year bridge programs, GPP offers a comprehensive preparatory ecosystem with academic rigor and professional guidance.
Joint Initiative by Desh Bhagat University and Study Feeds
The program is jointly offered by Desh Bhagat University, a NAAC A+ accredited institution, and Study Feeds, an international education services provider and licensed examination centre for German entrance and language tests in India and Nepal. The initiative aims to solve the lack of an integrated preparation framework for Indian students.
Comprehensive One-Year Preparatory Program
The one-year program includes academic foundation modules aligned with first-year German university expectations, intensive German language training up to B2 level (C1 for German-taught bachelor's programs), and preparation for digital TestAS and TestDaF exams with native German instructors.
Cultural readiness is led by Pia Breunig, a German native and Head of Cultural Training at Study Feeds, focusing on academic, social, and workplace integration.
Practical Preparedness and Student-Centric Model
Students participate in webinars with Indian students in Germany, university representatives, and exam experts. Breunig emphasizes a student-first model, enabling informed decisions rather than blind applications. The cohort-based model fosters peer networks and community before arrival.
Limited Streams and Conditional Admissions
Initially, the program offers three streams: Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, and BBA. Admissions are first-come, first-served with limited intake. Conditional admissions from German public universities are available for eligible students, reducing application uncertainty.
First University Partner: Hochschule Furtwangen University
The first partner is Hochschule Furtwangen University, a 176-year-old public university in Baden-Württemberg, known for engineering, computer science, business, and healthcare. It boasts a 97% student recommendation rate. More partnerships are expected soon.
Addressing Hidden Challenges
The curriculum covers blocked accounts, German banking, accommodation, internships, part-time work, and full-time employment pathways, often overlooked until arrival. This comprehensive approach positions GPP as an A-to-Z launchpad for long-term academic success.
As more Indian students seek affordable higher education in Germany, where public universities charge low or no tuition, GPP offers a structured alternative to fragmented processes. For more details, visit the official GPP website.
