Several districts in Haryana received much-needed relief from the scorching heatwave as a western disturbance brought rainfall across the region. The sudden change in weather led to a significant drop in temperatures, providing respite to residents who had been enduring extreme heat for weeks.
Rainfall Brings Down Temperatures
The western disturbance, which originated in the Mediterranean region, moved eastward and interacted with the prevailing hot and dry conditions over Haryana. This interaction resulted in widespread light to moderate rainfall in many parts of the state, including Ambala, Karnal, Kurukshetra, and Panchkula. The maximum temperatures, which had been hovering around 45 degrees Celsius in some areas, dropped by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius after the rain.

The rainfall brought cheer to farmers, as it provided much-needed moisture for standing crops such as wheat and mustard. The cooler weather also offered relief to urban dwellers, who had been struggling with power outages and heat-related health issues. However, the meteorological department has warned that the relief may be short-lived, as temperatures are expected to rise again after the disturbance passes.
